You’ve Never Had Thanksgiving Leftovers Like This Before!
Thanksgiving is finally over. Your annoying family is gone – but what remains are the Turkey Day leftovers, and for the next week your appetite is reluctant to reenact Thursday’s menu. This recipe is a really simple way to “turn up” those holiday dinner castaways. Best part is, you can pick and choose from your favorite dishes. For these sliders I went with turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, my wife’s amazing scratch baked yeast rolls and gravy.
The gravy is key, since that’s where we infuse our cannabis. So, let’s get this gravy situation sorted out! Here is what you will need:
- ½ cup of gravy
- 2 tbsp of cannabutter or 2 tbsp of butter and ½ – 1 gram of cannabis concentrate
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 tsp cornstarch
First thing we are going to do is melt our cannabutter in a medium saucepan over low heat. If you are using plain butter and concentrate, then place them in the sauce pan together and melt on low heat. If you have never made infused cannabis butter or oil, never fear. You can find simple recipes online.
Once these ingredients have melted down, add in your leftover gravy and increase the heat to medium. Make sure to stir constantly as this mixture will likely be a little thick, and we don’t want to burn the starch that’s in the leftover gravy.
Once this mixture is slightly bubbling, add in the cup of milk and turn your burner to high until it starts to boil. Then turn it back down to medium to let it simmer.
At this point your gravy will most likely be very loose but don’t worry. Add in the cornstarch and let the mixture simmer back down to the thickness that’s just right for you. As this mixture simmers, you may notice your cannabutter floating on top.
As the mixture thickens, the starches from the leftover gravy and the additional cornstarch you added will stabilize the gravy and keep your infusion from separating. Once your gravy is at the consistency you prefer, it is time to build your slider. There’s really no particular way to do it. It’s all a matter of preference. I decided to put the turkey down first then my cranberry sauce, dressing and finally my turnt up gravy. I recommend using 1 to 2 tablespoons per slider.
